It is becoming more common place to select your food choice from a LCD digital display boards, than the traditional static type. As technology progresses to new heights, we are faced with a myriad of tantalising food options, with their taste bud tickling photographs and hunger provoking descriptions — along with appealing prices!

Advertising has changed some what from the days of an unappealing and boring paper menu, all be it presented in a wall mounted display case, or a nasty worn plastic-coated table menu, with greasy finger marks, spilt drinks and peeling cover. These highly visual and alluring animated images scroll across the screen at a sedate speed, allowing the customer to read and take in the information presented to him, whilst offering meal deals and special offers he may be tempted to take advantage of.

Technology has also progressed to including wireless and Bluetooth advertising, where a customer may pass an activation point which triggers his Bluetooth mobile device, i.e. cell phone, and offers him a voucher or QR code (quick response) to present at the POS giving him a discount — always tempting for a consumer. As statistics show - the more customers in your retail outlet, the more chances of a sale. Bluetooth is a wireless communication option for short range connectivity, which sends and receives electronic information in real time.

Most of these LCD digital menu boards are located behind the service counter or POS or alternatively, or additionally, they may be positioned outside to advertise the outlets food menu and affiliate companies advertising services or merchandise. It is important to consider other influences which may affect the performance of the digital signage, such as how the sunlight may cause a glare on the screen, or keeping the board secure and away from any vandalism or damage. There are specific companies, that can be found searching Google, which offer protective enclosures with a special viewing window which also offers heavy duty protection against accidental or deliberate harm.
