Success Secrets - What I, Mike Litman Learned From This Old Book
Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day in New York and yes, I spent it alone :}. My wife left for lunch with some old friends at 11:30 and a bunch of my friends were busy. It was the first real nice day in New York in months, so I grabbed a few books and went to read outside. As some of you know, I'm fascinated with success books that were written before 1930. Over the last 3 years, I've spend thousands of dollars in finding them because so many of them are 'out of print' and many of them have changed my life. The clarity and power of the early 1900's authors is amazing. To me, some of these earlier books, like 'The Power of Concentration'and others are the best success books ever written. As I was reading one of the books, a sentence jumped up and GRABBED ME. Here's what it said; and read this slowly and carefully. "Whatever cannot obey itself is commanded." Let me say that again. "Whatever cannot obey itself is commanded." And then it said: "The failures in life are the people who could not or would not obey themselves; they then became commanded by others. They could not hold to the course; they lost their grip. They did not do as they promised their own hearts they would do." That's powerful, especially the last sentence. Re-read it. If we met someone with the same challenges we have and they asked us for advice, we'd give them great advice, right? But the challenge is so many of us don't take the advice ourselves. The effects of this are many, including people work at jobs they don't like, have less time with their family/friends, money worries, and more. One of the reasons I released 'The Ultimate Lifestyle Workshop' is to help people alleviate these financial pressures. Remember, "Whatever cannot obey itself is commanded." We all need to start listening to our own advice and the good advice of others. When we know what we need to do, we need to DO IT. Ask yourself: What do I know I need to do today, but have been putting off? Do it now because you'll feel GREAT. Isn't it time to start 'obeying yourself' more? Talk to you soon.
