Author: Way Char
Choosing an acne treatment product can be very overwhelming, since there is a wide array of products to choose from, and deciding on which product is best for you may be difficult. With this in mind I have decided to give you these 4 steps to make your decision a little easier
Step 1: figure out what type of acne you have. This is important since you may be using the wrong acne treatment for your specific acne. This is a major contributor to having stubborn acne that just would not go away. You could figure out the type of acne you have based on the particular symptoms you exhibit, I detail how to determine the type of acne you have in a free ebook I give away on my blog.
Step 2: Research products tailored to treat your specific type of acne. A simple google search could help you with this. Let us say you have found out that you have the Vulgaris strain of acne, all you now need to do is to search for products formulated for that type of acne. You would be given a number of products, do not let this overwhelm you. Just write down about five or not more than ten of these products and continue on your research.
Step 3: Determine your skin type. Whether you have normal, oily, combination or dry skin. Most persons already know what type of skin they have. This step is one of the essentials of acne treatment since using a product not designed for your skin type may exacerbate the situation instead of helping it. Ones skin type may be determined by this simple test. Wash your face thoroughly with a cleanser, pat dry and wait for about an hour. After the hour would have elapsed, press a dry clean tissue on each of the following areas of the face, the centre of the cheeks, outer cheeks, center of forehead, outer forehead, chin and nose. If all the pieces of tissues have flaky residue along with no oil and the face feels a tight, then you have dry skin. If all the tissues have oil then you have oily skin. While if only the tissues from the center of the forehead chin and centre of the cheeks have oil and there is no apparent oil from other areas, you have combination skin. No oil or any flaky residue on any of the tissue indicates that you have normal skin.
Step 4: Chose a product designed for your skin type. From the products that you have written down check to see which one is best for your skin type. Most acne manufacturers give this information on their website. Now if you have more than one product that is formulated for your skin, then personal preference, your budget and reviews by others should help you to make your final decision. A point to note is that products that are designed for all skin types can be used by anyone.
There you have it, 4 steps to choosing the best treatment product for your acne.
