Networking and Eating at Parties
By Lance Winslow
When at networking events planned by the local Chamber of Commerce or Political type events it pays to go light on the eating, as it is hard to explain something when another guest starts asking you questions about who you are or perhaps what you are doing.
That is not to say that you should not grab some of the goodies provided, as the last thing you want to do is act like a party pooper or tell someone you are on a diet or even that you already ate, as that detracts from the gracious host. So grab a small paper tray and put a few items on it, but do not go hog wild, unless of course you are a professional party crasher and free food frenzy forager.
If indeed you are really there to meet new people, network and advance your social position while helping others to do the same in a win-win situation then go easy on the food. You are probably thinking, well the guy who wrote this article does not know what on Earth he is talking about?
Well, baloney, as I certainly do know what I am saying and sense I have attended more networking events than you have perhaps it is you who need to learn a thing or two about listening rather than talking with food in your mouth? Stop stuffing your face and get with the program is all I am saying.
