Discount Retailer Plans Hiring Events
(NewsUSA) - The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported the addition of 165,000 jobs in April and a national unemployment average of 7.5 percent. Compared to the nine and 10 percent unemployment rates of 2010, the figure is promising. This May, however, could be a different story as employers typically increase hiring efforts in advance of the summer and holiday seasons.
In particular, Tennessee-based discount retailer Dollar General plans to hire 10,000 new employees in May for its store and distribution center locations. With a presence in 40 states throughout the country, entry-level or management job seekers should seriously consider joining one of America's fastest growing retailers.
Under the leadership of Rick Dreiling since 2008, Dollar General has grown into the retail powerhouse it is today. Nearly 75 years after the company's founding in 1939, Dreiling's vision for Dollar General has transformed the retailer into its sector leader with nearly 11,000 locations and annual sales of over $16 billion.
Today, the nation's largest small-box retailer is looking for new candidates to help fuel its continued growth and Dollar General offers endless opportunities for employee career development.
As an employer of choice for top candidates with industry-recognized training programs, attractive employee-engagement programs, collegiate tuition discount programs, talent-development programs and a strong internal placement program, Dollar General plans to hire those looking to start and propel their career.
"Dollar General is seeking to hire people with the attitude, aptitude and ambition to build a career with us and support our mission of Serving Others," said Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO.
Current job seekers interested in joining the Dollar General team should attend one of many hiring fairs set for May. Hiring opportunities for distribution center positions, as well as time and locations for the nationwide hiring fair on Saturday, May 18, are available on the Careers website of Dollar General.
