Cleaning With Cola?

Author: Brooke Gillespie

Everyone likes to save money, though some go to more extreme measures than others. There are good and bad ways to do so, and many of them are related to your automobile. For example, one good way to save money is by rolling down your windows rather than using the AC.

One bad idea would be to not use Utah auto glass replacement services when your cars windshield breaks, and instead just put cardboard over it. So that In mind, what do you think about this idea: using cola to clean off your dirty windshield?

It might sound like a practical joke, but according to one writer on LifeHacker.com, it really does work as a windshield cleaning replacement. It's really quite simple, and is really just a fun way to efficiently use what you have sitting at your house.

What you'll need is a rag, and a coke soda. The writer doesn't list whether it needs to be fresh or not. Apply the coke to your rag, and then rinse. The acids in the drink should reportedly break up the disgusting layers of insects and grime that have built up on the windshield, allowing for easy rinsing and total removal.

One word of warning though is that while using coke on your auto glass might remove grime, it will also remove paint from your car should it spill. Better not slip up or you'll have to pay someone to replace the paint on your automobile.

Aside from the cola trick, there is also another list detailing a few long road-trip ideas for those thrifty savers. The ideas include utilizing used coffee grounds for a cheap overnight deodorizer, and constructing a smart phone car mount from binder clips, wires, and rubber bands. Some of the stuff is quite ingenious, though somewhat impractical.

So what do you do when you can't see anything else out of your auto glass windshield? Well, if it's broken, then auto glass replacement is probably the only solution unless repair is viable. Letting your windshield go unfixed can actually result in other problems and cost you more money.

But if you are just hindered by the droppings of Utah's seagull population, a can of coke could just come to your rescue. Keep that trick in mind, and you might just appreciate that fizzy goodness for more than the sudden kick of caffeine that it provides to keep you awake while driving.
