Redesign Your Reality
By Rebecca McClain
Do you ever look at your life and wonder if this is as good as it gets? I think it's a question that most people will ask themselves in one form or another at some point in their lives. They're not satisfied where they are, and they don't have any prospects for the future. Unfortunately, many will never move beyond the wonderment of the question.
Sometimes the frustration or restlessness you experience is God's way of getting your attention that it's time to make a shift--either in your attitude or to the next place in your life. That's why it's important that you take time to listen to your life. Most people allow life to define them rather than them defining their own lives. You're familiar with the phrase, "It is what it is." In other words, "Just accept the reality of it." But when it comes to your life, your reality is what you choose to make it. You have the ability to create the reality you wish to experience, but you cannot expect to move beyond your present circumstances or achieve new goals unless you're willing to change. That's where the rubber meets the road, because most people don't like the word change.
Change is a gift but it requires more than just having a positive attitude. A positive attitude will allow you to see and follow a clear path from where you are now to where you want to be, but it cannot magically bring into your life the things you desire. I want to give you the blueprint for transforming your life. This blueprint contains, what I call, three essential design specifications. Following this detailed set of plans will enable you to re-design your reality.
1. Set Your Intention. Get clear about what you want. As long as your future ambitions are vague and tentative, just taking what each day brings, you're going to wander through life frustrated without a sense of meaning. No one else can tell you what to want. They might make some suggestions, but ultimately you have to decide what you want your future to reflect.
Once you decide what you want, half of the battle is already won. Intention is a powerful force because it transforms your thoughts into results. It helps achieve your goals and bring your dreams to reality.
2. Show Your Commitment. Commitment goes beyond words and good intentions. In order to show your commitment, there must be a continual undertaking of your goal. The way you know your commitment is firm is that you don't quit when it is tested, but you stay steadily on course the through the good times and during challenges. It's like being in a marriage. Commitment is the glue that holds the marriage together. You know you're committed to the relationship during touch times. You don't throw in the towel at the first sign of trouble. The same principle applies when it comes to redesigning your reality.
3. Make it Happen. A dream without corresponding action is merely a fantasy. The way you demonstrate your intention is by doing what you set their intention to do. Once the commitment is made, you must give it your best effort. By writing down specific, measureable goals, you have a clear roadmap to help you reach your desired destination. Furthermore, a step-by-step plan of action will help manage the process of achieving your dream without becoming overwhelmed by the scope of the tasks and duration of the process.
If you're not pleased with where your life is today, I challenge you to begin now re-designing your reality into what you desire it to be. Start by setting an intention--that is, get clear about what you want. Show your commitment and take deliberate steps to make it happen.
