Can hosted PBX services for customer management system come true?
Author: Jay J Smith
PBX systems allow you to configure extensions, customer management systems, auto-attendants, call redirects and more to route calls within your organization. These operations are handled through a private branch exchange server (PBX). Virtual PBX services are set up, maintain and host your server outside of sharing site and just buy IP phones and an Internet connection to interact with a panel of web-based management.
Self-Hosted PBX provides the exchange server the house (on site). The benefits and compensation vary, but in general, are virtual PBX services for small businesses and Self-Hosted PBX systems are for medium and large companies with heavy phone volume. You can use any analog phone lines or digital VoIP PBX Auto-Host. Virtual PBX services are limited to VoIP. PBXSystems.org focuses exclusively on cost savings (typically 50%) associated with enterprise-class VoIP communications.
Prices
The general consensus is that the virtual PBX services are ideal for small businesses with 1-10 employees only. With virtual PBX, you are sharing the server 3rd party exchange with others, thus sharing the hardware and maintenance costs. You must fix the point of their needs and carefully research your preferred Virtual PBX provider. The costs are usually between $ 30-120/month complete packages (minutes included). Extensions may or may not be free, depending on the provider. The marginal cost increase compared with self-hosted PBX system as you add more users.
Virtual PBX systems also provide you and DID SIP trunks instead of the security of your account. However, they may limit the number or channels or simultaneous calls your phone number can be achieved (services vary).
Hosted PBX systems for car, need a server (with a data port PCI), the configuration software (open source available), broadband (t1 handles 30 simultaneous calls), and potentially, a firewall or gateway. VoIP Rate plans are provided through ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Providers) and charge at least $ 15/SIP Trunk per month and $ 1/DID per month (rate plans and packages vary by provider). As a general rule, you should book channels (DID, etc.) to one third of its employees. If you have 300 employees, not all of them will be on the phone at all times. Calculate a secure means of simultaneous calls required. Each service provider is responsible for the terminology (SIPs, DID, canals, etc.) different. Contact your support department requirements / specific questions such as:
"We need 20 simultaneous incoming calls to our toll free number and 2 simultaneous calls to our local number?"
"We have about 5000 minutes us toll-free incoming, 1000 outgoing minutes to Australia, and 1,200 outgoing minutes of our satellite office in Germany?"
"If our phone systems go down, we can redirect incoming traffic to another phone?"
"We have 4 different numbers, with the number of simultaneous calls 'x' personnel management in each number 'x'?"
"How do you drive, and what is charged to the numbers of input and output ports of your system?"
In short: if you need more than 25 simultaneous calls (more than 75 employees), consider a hosted PBX system itself. If you are unfamiliar with PBX systems, spend at least 1 month before researching your options for equipment and services (ensuring compatibility and furniture) buy. You will need compatible phones; server / software, firewall, data / voice and internet service SIP / DID providers.
Hardware
Many tout that hosted PBX hardware itself can cost as much as $ 60,000. However, you need to research your company, as many hardware vendors can sell a complete PBX installation (compatible phones and server / software installed) to small businesses in the area of ??$ 2500.
Depending on your needs and volume, enterprise-grade pipe can be as high as $ 600 a month. For the most part, the simultaneous calls is limited to its bandwidth (e.g. 23 channels/T1 simultaneously). In addition, some SIP providers require a static IP address. With Virtual PBX, businesses can use a standard Internet data that may not be practical for large support / sales centers. However, both IP-PBX systems allow you to share the same bandwidth for voice and data. Be sure to adjust the settings for QoS (Quality of Service) to prioritize voice to avoid dropped calls and poor sound quality.
For both systems can use SIP compatible IP phones or soft phones. You can also use a traditional phone, but you need an ATA adapter or gateway for VoIP service (check the interoperability of close). Self-organized systems may require a SIP firewall.
