6 Ways Of Dealing With A Flat Tire
Author: janet
Having a flat tire is something that can really spoil your day as a biker. Here are a few tips on motorcycle tires that every rider needs to know.
One can never tell exactly when a motorcycle tire will need inflation or replacement. A flat tire will come unexpectedly and this is why it is important for every motorcycle rider to be prepared at all times. Being prepared involves always having the right tools and equipment in case inflation or replacement is required.
It is dangerous for one to be on the road with a flat or damaged tire. A tire repair kit is recommended for all motorcycle riders for emergency cases.
- Inspect the Tire Pressure. Always check the pressure of your tires before embarking on a ride. It is necessary to do this probably every morning. Motorcycle tires will easily wear out when riding under low tire pressure. This is one big step towards avoiding flat tires.
- Be knowledgeable. All motorcycle owners must have information on motorcycle and motorcycle tires. Motorcycle tires are in two categories, the front tire and the rear tire. This is information that all bikers need to have because the tires can never be interchanged.
- Always be alert. As a biker you need to be alert at all times while on the road. Accidents do happen sometimes due to unawareness and lack of concentration on the roads. It is advisable that one stays alert so that essential things like a flat tire will not go unnoticed. When you notice a flat, immediately pull over.
- Understand the tire situation. You need to know where the tear is. If it is due to low pressure please inflate the tire. Damaged tires are extremely dangerous and need to be replaced.
- Check valve core. The valve core can cause low pressure on motorcycle tires so it is important for it to be checked too. If the valve core is the problem, either replace it or tighten it according to the situation.
- Seal any holes. If there is a puncture or a cut, go ahead and seal the hole. Do this by digging out the debris before you can actually seal the cut or tear.
Flat tires can really be a bother for every motorcycle rider. The most important way of ensuring that this is not a problem you will always encounter is to buy durable and good quality tires.
