Family Tree Charts
By Max Bellamy
Organizing your family tree can be a very challenging and rewarding experience at same time. You need to do a lot of research, but once you have completed it, you can present your chart to your whole family and give everyone the gift of knowing their lineage.
There are several ways of creating a family tree chart. You can do it yourself manually, use software or hire professional artists to put together your chart for you. Let us discuss each method so you can pick one that you like best.
Doing it yourself. This is a good option if you have a rather small family, because you can easily trace back to your ancestors and merge out to second-degree relatives. This is also great if you are good with artwork - you can create something unique for your family. Even if you aren't very good at drawing, there is illustrator software to help you get started.
Use family tree software. All genealogy software programs already provide the fundamental computer-generated lineage chart tools you need, but you can always download extras to make your chart even more accurate and unique. Some add-ons provide better charting functions that allow you to customize and print your charts in a matter of minutes.
Buying from artists. You can commission the services of an artist to create beautiful family tree charts. Remember that you still have to diagram your chart and do all the research and produce all the pictures (either for mounting or as reference for the painting or sketches that the artist will make).
