Sleek, Simple Styles Create Easy Summer Looks
If you're still searching for the perfect summer hairstyle that's classy, casual and convenient, you're not alone.
More than 28 percent of women between the ages of 25 and 55 admit they put up their hair into a ponytail or bun in the summer, according to a survey conducted by Infusium 23.
This summer, it's time to give the bun or ponytail a sexy update for a fresh style that still keeps longer locks off your face. Try these breezy summer looks from celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa:
1. Easy beach braids: No ponytail holder? No problem! Separate hair in two sections and pull forward. Loosely braid or twist each section. To secure, spray hair with a flexible hold product like Aussie's new Catch the Wave Sprunch Aerosol Hair Spray at the end of the braid and comb in and upward several times. To turn this into an evening look, wrap braids together in the back and secure with a large bobby pin to make a funky bun.
2. Ponytail pizazz: To create the perfect ponytail, spray a flexible hold hair spray directly on a flat boar bristle brush. With the product on the brush, using both hands, brush the hair with one hand into a smooth ponytail held by the other hand and secure. To finish the look, wrap a small section of hair around the ponytail to hide the hair tie.
3. Beautiful bangs: Want Reese Witherspoon's bangs but don't want to cut your hair? You can create a bang with any length of hair when you wear a headband. Part your hair far on one side, apply a shine-enhancing gel, comb forward and sweep to the side and bobby pin in place. Cover with headband and you suddenly have a long, sweeping bang. Try using different material for your summer headband look; ribbons, belts and scarves are fun alternatives.
4. Head-turning headbands: Headbands look great with textured, healthy, shiny hair. Try using Aussie Catch the Wave Mousse + Leave-in conditioner on damp hair and scrunch up with your hands to create natural waves. This will provide protection from the humid air and add hold to your scrunched curls. Then, take your loose curls and pin up in the back. This is a cute look that makes a stunning profile with a headband.
