Technology used in Bilstein Shocks?

Bilstein is a renowned name when it comes to shock of any kind of vehicle. From performance vehicles to trucks, they make shocks for everyone. They make shocks for towing vehicles, trucks, off road racers and for performance vehicles. They have revolutionized what this industry could offer to sports industry. Their unique product, and top notch quality have changed pattern of this industry. They were the ones who introduced the monotube technology. It has been used quite extensively up to this date.

There are two kinds of shocks available in the market. The first one is twin tube shock, and the other one which Bilstein makes is Monotube. It is vital to know the difference between them. Twin tube technology uses two cylinders. Outer reservoir, and the inside working cylinder are the two main components. There is dividing piston in between them, which act as a dampening factor. The main problem is that the dividing piston is small, and through it air bubbles passes into oil forming foam. Foam formation decreases the dampening force of shock. Lifespan is reduced significantly due to this very reason. On the other hand, monotube designs consist of a much bigger piston which is separated by nitrogen. Heat is dissipated easily through the outer surface, hence increasing the life span and usability of the shock. One can have much more control and better ride due to these very reasons.

There are several series which are designed only for performance vehicles. Some of them are B8 series, B12, B14 and B16. B8 series a monotube design, which is a lowering shock with sport setting with added comfort. They are made for superior handling and comfortable ride. Their design is same as that of HD shocks. The major difference is the presence of internal bumper, which is there to accommodate lower spring. This series is made to work in all kind of weather, so one doesn't have to worry about losing control.

In case if B12 series, there are two distinct choices. One is Pro-kit and the other one is sportline. These are also monotube design, with inverted tube technology. This technology is there to improve stability and abolish rod flex. These have a professional cornering system which provides fast response rate. The difference between Pro-kit and sportline is that, the former one lower the vehicle 40mm and the later up to 50mm. B14 PSS is a ride adjustable suspension system. They come with signature monotube gas pressure technology.
