Salicylic acid is an effective compound to lighten dark marks. Although it is commonly used to treat acne, it also gives good results in making the outer skin to soften and peel. This helps in removing the dead skin cells. Thereafter, new even toned cells replace them.
A natural approach to treatment can include use of lemon. Since lemon juice is acidic in nature, it helps in lightening the marks on the skin. Cotton balls could be used to apply the juice.
